Thinking GymTM
12 Creative Tools of GeniusesTM

|
Humankind have had a fascination with people of eminence, trailblazers and prodigies arguably since the dawn of the history. From Albert Einstein to Hertz, we have sought to uncover the 'secrets' of how the minds of geniuses work. Are there special thinking tools and strategies applied by geniuses? How did the greatest of minds the likes of DaVinci, Einstein, Mozart come up with their brilliant ideas? Can their thinking skills be taught and applied?
After decades of researching highly creative people and geniuses from around the world, they (Professor Bernstein & his wife Professor Michele) discovered that there are indeed several and specific thinking tools, skills and strategies used by such innovators. Professor Bernstein’s research and framework has been highly acclaimed, and here are some of the positive reviews:
"Powerful… for scientists, artists, and humanists alike,... presents radically different ways of approaching problems." – American Scientist Magazine
"Captivating for its insight into the potential of human imagination" – Harvard Business Review
"Clever & detailed fitness program for the creative mind" – Kirkus Review
The Thinking GymTM curriculum developer, Titus Yong, received his Masters degree in Education & Psychology from Harvard, and conducted research on creative thinking under Professor Howard Gardner, the father of Multiple Intelligences. Titus discussed with & interviewed over a dozen Nobel laureates and other highly creative people, understanding the gems and ‘secrets’ of these transformational leaders, scientists and innovators.
Ingenio’s Thinking GymTM program is the result of combining Titus’s research, insights from Professor Howard Gardner, and in collaboration with Professor Bernstein.
Thinking GymTM teaches the 12 Creative Thinking ToolsTM and positive psychology utilised by highly ingenious people from around the world.

Interviews with innovators. Our source of inspiration!
 |
Far sighted government leaders and advisers acknowledge that the world is moving from a knowledge age to an era of innovation and ideas. Because information is easily available at the click of a mouse, the ability to question, gain insights and create new ideas & solutions is now more valued then simply remembering data. Having good academic grades, though important, will not be enough for children to thrive and succeed in an innovative economy. Creative & innovative thinking is fast becoming one of the most important skills of the 21st century.

Dr James Canton: Chairman, Institute for Global Futures, advisor to three White House administrations, Motorola's Visionary Advisory Board.
"The current education system has failed to complete its most vital and strategic mandate: preparing the workforce for the future. Most schools, kindergarten through college, are not in sync with changes in the marketplace - more competitive, more complex, more global, more innovation-driven.” |

|
Thomas Friedman: Two time Pulitzer Prize winner; Financial Times & Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year 2005
“There may be a limit to the number of good factory jobs in the world, but there is no limit to the number of idea-generated jobs in the world.”
We need to have “the right education to get more people innovating and collaborating.” |
As Singapore's Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong mentioned on 2nd August 2009 at the Marine Parade National Day Dinner, we need to "out-educate and out-innovate others" in order for us to compete as a nation and as a recipe for "continued succes".
|
|
Dr Tony Tan (Deputy Chairman, Government of Singapore Investment Corporation) mentioned a similar innovation message, as published on the Straits Times, 7 Aug 2009, titled "Wanted: New Ideas, New Markets and New Products". In his speech, Dr Tony Tan cited notable Stanford economist Paul Romer, saying "The world is moving from an economy of products and services to an economy of ideas."

As a parent or guardian, the question to ask is this: "Is my child equipped to survive and thrive in this new social-economic environment?"
Ingenio's Thinking GymTM program has been taught to students of various ages, from primary school to university students at Singapore Management University over the last few years.
